Eric von Hippel, via Lessig: "Customers are not idiots. If they tinker with a company's product, the company can then learn how to make the product better."
Chris
A couple of great quotes...
"The customer is not an idiot, she is your wife"
David Ogilvy, one of the founders of modern advertising.
"The customer has all the answers... and all the money"
Sam Walton, the founder of WalMart.
Von Hippel is right, although his lead customers thinking also recognises that some customers are more demanding as users and thus more insightful as sources of customer-driven innovation than others.
